Sam Thorne: On Self Organised Practice

As part of The Clubhouse Field Notes hosted The Clubhouse AGM, a programme of talks, workshops and events at Newlyn Gallery and The Exchange celebrating artist-led activity in Cornwall, which took place across December 2015. On Wednesday 9th December a talk night was held in The Exchange Café Bar in Penzance. Sam Thorne, founder of Open School East and former Artistic Director of Tate St Ives, spoke about his knowledge and experience of artist led practice. He discussed issues around arts education, funding and the relationship between self initiated practice and institutions with the audience at The Exchange.
