PHYLLIDA BLUEMEL
Phyllida is an artist, writer and book designer with a knack for bringing together complex and seemingly disparate ideas and narratives, into elegant, concise and intriguing artworks.
We’ve had the pleasure of working with her many times over the last few years; the first was in 2017 as a recent graduate of Falmouth University’s Authorial Practice MA, where Phyllida took on one of Penryn Arts Festival’s bursary places alongside five other emerging artists. She then worked with us on Plymouth Art Weekender in 2017 and 2018 for the festival design and guidebook, and in 2019 we commissioned her again as part of Goonhilly Village Green, where she created the very first print edition of the Goonhilly Chronicle.

We often task her with drawing together other artists’ ideas, following historical and imagined threads through the projects to create a body of research that spans the breadth and depth of each programme. Somehow from the chaos of many artists' ideas she captures clarity in the form of a non linear, exquisite object that functions both as artwork and as publication.
