GO HAPPEN

Colette Grenville and Jacob Woods have been making work together as Go Happen since meeting at Falmouth University in 2012. Jacob’s practice leans into scriptwriting, directing and performing within theatre, audio and film and Colette draws together sound installations, photography and site responsive performance. Their practice together reflects a shared curiosity in stories and questions related to and created with specific places, environments and people.

The first time we worked together was on PACE, a run through the woods at National Trust’s Trelissick, working with a choir, performers, fishermen and even an opera singer all under cover of darkness, as part of 2015’s The Wanderers. Since then we’ve worked together on commissions for Inland Art Festival and Plymouth Art Weekender, then in 2020 we commissioned them for our digital series From the Field. The pair, who were geographically seperated throughout the pandemic, spent 24 hours exchanging instructions based on imagined experiences of one another’s lockdown with the resulting actions shared live on Instagram stories.

Go Happen create site responsive performances, micro-expeditions and workshops that span storytelling, dance, music, sculpture, video and performance. Their diverse practice is united by an underlying interest in exploring different forms of physical narratives through embodied and sensory experiences of place.
